It will be a classy and elegant fashion show tomorrow, February 3, at the Manila Marriot Hotel Grand Ballroom. Philippine’s Prince of Bead, Amir Sali, will have his 2014 Gala Fashion Show and will present his latest creations to the high society of Metro Manila. Amir is from Jolo, Sulu and is always proud of his race being a Mindanawon. His family transferred to Zamboanga City in the ‘70s after the Jolo siege. He studied fashion designing in Cebu City.

One of the sought after fashion designers in Metro Manila and abroad, Amir came back to our country few years back and established his House of Amir at Connecticut, Greenhills, San Juan City. He used to be based in the Middle East as the preferred stylists of Royal Families and wealthy families in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He travels with them in Europe and in other countries when they want to upgrade their wardrobes now and then. But since Amir is based in Manila, they are the ones now who come to our country when they need dress and bags for special occasion. Amir has developed this special bonding with them that they fully trust him.

Amir believes that his God-given talent will speak of His glory and does not want to exploit his creations. He does not seek the endorsements of showbiz people in an ex-deal basis. If they want his dress, they have to pay for it because it is worth it. He prefers people to wear his dresses because it can make them more fabulous and confident. That's why he is firm and will he not give in to the demands of his rich clients to wear their preferred designs that he deems does not look on them. He creates.

It takes months to have an appointment with Amir, not because he is choosy, but he takes time to create his client’s apparel after several consultations. He also buys his clothing materials including threads, buttons, and expensive beads in Europe and other countries except China. The end result – his bead works on dresses and on his signature bag Amir Sali are amazing and dazzling. One Amir creation will have materials coming from different countries.

No one can copy how he does it but Amir does the bead works of other designers who seek his collaboration on their creations. That’s why he never had a hard time to be friends with other designers in this competitive industry. Amir is also has limited Barong Tagalog designs bearing his distinct Amir touch. He has been featured in top local and international fashion magazines.

What is superb in this fashion show, Manila top hair stylist and make-up artist Danny Katalbas, will do the hair and make-up of Amir’s models. Danny is also from Zamboanga City who manages Privat Salon located in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. As L’Oreal Philippine Ambassador, Danny has traveled in other countries. He is known for his hair-cut that can bring the best look in you and is trusted when it comes to hair coloring.  That’s why the rich and famous of Manila top 500 are mostly his clients.

God is good as Amir always says. Yes, God is indeed good in giving him and Danny talents that has made our city proud.
