My hat offs to hair stylist and make-up artist Danny Katalbas of Privat Salon Manila for adding glamor to the successful gala fashion show of Philippines Prince of Beads fashion designer Amir Sali last February 3 at the Marriott Hotel Manila. Famous for his couture hair style and coloring, Danny added allure to the show without taking away the attention of the high-heeled audience to the formal gowns of Amir.  He also did the make-up of the models together with his Privat Salon team.

Remember this is a fashion show of Amir and not a showcase of Danny’s creations.  Their combinations really complimented each other and drew amazement and awed. Amir told me that in a fashion show run away, the dress must be the center of attention. Not the music, stage decorations, hair style, or even by good looking and well-physique models.  It’s the dress the audience should be talking about, Amir said.

And indeed, the first gala show of Amir had achieved it. People in the fashion industry are still talking about it and there is already a request for a repeat. Amir has proven again why he is the Amir (his name means prince or a high chieftain) in glittering wardrobes. He deserves the title of the Prince of Beads. His wardrobes sparkle with gold, diamond and precious gems effects a far and near.

Danny, who is L’Oreal Ambassador to the Philippines, gave way to Amir the center stage. Danny was just happy at the back stage. Amir did the same thing in the past when Danny had also his hair launching. Amir loaned to him his expensive gowns (that can cost almost half-a-million or more each) to add sophistication to Danny’s creations.

Aside that they are both from Zamboanga City, Danny’s and Amir’s clients are from elite families, famous personalities, and showbiz people who can afford their services. They don’t go for ex-deal in TV shows to plug their names. What makes them happier is to share their talents by teaching others how to be successful like them. Both conduct seminars around the country if time permits them to be off from their respective busy schedules. Appointment is advised if one wants their services.

Privat Salon Manila is located at The Fort in Taguig City while the House of Amir is at Connecticut, Greenhills, San Juan City.
