I missed participating in this year’s “Marcha de las Mujeres” as I was just discharged from my confinement last Monday only at the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, and I thank God I am on the way of recovery from my high blood pressure and low potassium level.

Held last Tuesday, March 11, I was just contented reading DZT news of what transpired during the Marcha and got pictures from Facebook courtesy of my son Dante.

An early morning parade from the town proper to Paseo del Mar started the celebration in commemoration of the National Women Month and International Women Day. I concurred with the message of our City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar when she encouraged the women participant to strive and overcome life’s difficulties in life with God’s grace.

“Despite all the challenges that women faced in life, the struggles in raising their families, we are all here today to celebrate the gift and beauty of women,” Mayor Climaco said in her welcome message during the program that followed the walk to Paseo del Mar.

This year’s theme is , “Mujer el Fuerza Dituyo es el Fuerza de Todo Para Levanta y Adelanta,” and was organized well by  the City Gender And Development (GAD) Focal Point and Local Council of Women.

A giant women’s assemble of human symbol was formed first at the Paseo’s open ground after the parade. It represented posterity and a reminder of the greatness of women in our society. It was followed with a program inside the Centro Latino. Newly City Human Resource and Management Office Dr. Jane Bascar was the guest speaker.

My prayer is that our police and military forces in coordination with our city government can really put into action an effective security system for our city and to everyone.
