Whirling Daily Zamboanga Times for 26 years PDF Print E-mail

I thank God today for another year of social whirling with Daily Zamboanga Times. This calls for a celebration for the longest running local newspaper in Western Mindanao, and Social Whirl has always been a proud part of it for more than two decades. I have been writing about different social occasions happening in our city and around our region. Sometimes beyond our shore especially about Zamboangueños and Zamboangueñas who bring pride to our city.

The who’s who, the achievers, the blooming bride with her handsome groom, the lovely debutante, the newly crowned beauty queen, the happy birthday celebrants, exciting school and office events, etc. is what Social Whirling is all about.

Today Social Whirl is saluting the present crop of Daily Zamboanga Times. These are the men and women who roll Daily Zamboanga Times (DZT) every day. From our mogul publisher, Alfred Lim to the living legendary guiding media father of all Vic Arevalo, and to our contemporary Eeditor-in-Chief Roy Ramos who rose from the rank, these are the top three triumvirates of DZT who lead us. They make DZT the paper to beat when it comes to print media.

My columnist colleagues from the ‘80’s are still here – Bob Jaldon (Behind the Lines)and Mike Apostol (Table Talk). They are the hard hitting writers who will not leave any stone unturned. They bring out the fire when they see the smokes. Betty Elago’s Tickle Me Pink, Remy Marmoleño’s thought provoking essays and Christine Guicanaran (Class Record)  are the women in media who bring out respect and dignity when it comes out expressing their opinions without fear. Pep Talk of  Dante Corteza who writes more about business happenings.

Dan Toribio, Allen , and (other reporters) are our hard hitting media reporters who banner mostly our headline news the following day. Account Executive Mae Dulaca and Kay Ganza, Rachel Elumbra and Girlie Miranda, our layout artists,  are our reliable office girls who make sure that our news are in order upon the guidance of Roy.

To my DZT colleague columnists, Mel Maurico, Fr. Roy Cimagala, Berly Yap etc, it is a pleasure to be writing with you on the same paper.
To all our faithful subscribers and loyal readers, thank you for staying with us. Looking forward to many years of whirling with you!
