The Pirate’s Welcome Night of the recent 2011 Rotary International District 3850 Conference at the grandiose Astoria Regency is the social event so far this year. Almost a thousand Rotarians and their guests came in their best costumes and enjoyed a whole night of revelling and fun. The flow of the program was smooth and well coordinated that everyone enjoyed watching a night of full entertainment. The place was fabulously decorated by Allan dela Cruz with a big pirate ship on stage.

The food was sumptuous with overflowing wines and drinks. Piping hot grilled shrimps and roasted calf were served on the side. Visitors were delighted with Zamboanga’s famous cab – the curacha. One can say that the event pirated (captured) the hearts of those who came.

The visiting Rotarians were impressed with the hospitality of the Zamboangueños and were mesmerized too with Asia’s Latin City’s best tourist spots that they toured earlier that day.

Congratulations and thank you, Rotary District Gov. James Makasiar and the different Rotary Clubs in Zamboanga City, for another successful feat in making our city a premier conference destination in this region!
