The birthday bash of Universal College of Southeast and the Pacific (UCSAP) School Director Margareth “Gie-Gie” Garcia yesterday, July 13, was a triple thanksgiving celebration with a food festival. Families, friends, special guests, and students trooped to the UCSAP International Institute of Culinary Arts in San Jose to greet this special lady and amiable wife of Dr. Rody Garcia, and became part of her natal thanksgiving.

First, it was a thanksgiving celebration for the successful run of the first and only culinary school in our city. Exactly one year ago when this institution had ground breaking, and six months later it opened its galley complete with modern kitchen and baking facilities to people who wanted to be chef. Now, it is producing graduates who are gainfully employed here and abroad. If not, I am sure they are happily cooking the best dishes and sweets in their own homes.

Second, the institution’s cold kitchen had its blessings where its students can learn how to make the best salads. This is an added training skill for those who are enrolled here.  And thirdly, soon, a couture school will be opened too. People who want to be professional dressmakers and fashion designers will be taught the rudiments of this industry.

It was really a day of galore as buffet of food and sweets of culinary delights were prepared by the institution’s professional chefs. While the guests were being served, there was a live demonstration how the food and pastries were being prepared right in front of everybody.
Gie-Gie, I can say, is one of the happiest women and blessed at that too – a fulfilled wife and a good mother with a blooming professional career.   More blessings to you!
