One of the most active Rotary Clubs in Zamboanga City is the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City North. Partnering it up with the Rotary Anns Club of Zamboanga City North, our city is indeed doubly blessed with the humanitarian services the men and women of these clubs rendered for the last 34 years.

The Rotary Theme for 2014 is “Light up Rotary.” And now that there is a changing of the guard from out-going President Jimmy Saavedra to its new President Rodrigo “Boy” Filoteo, expect more light of services from the club.

Last Saturday, July 12, Pres. Filoteo took over the reign on the club’s 35th induction and turn-over ceremonies at Grand Astoria Hotel. His beloved spouse, Edna Filoteo, was also inducted as the new president of the Rotary Anns Club of Zamboanga North. She took over out-going president Pinky Saavedra.

The special guest speaker was Rotarian Horacio Templo, Manila Standard columnist. Templo used to be with the Social Security System as EVP and Chief Actuary. He is now VP and Chief Actuary of Maxicare.

Inducted together with Pres. Filoteo were Ken Salazar (VP/President-Elect), Eugene de Asis (Secretary), Vir berdin (Treasurer), and Ronnie Kulong (Sergeant-at-Arms). The new Club Directors are Jimmy Saavedra (Club service), Kokoy Baldovino (Membership), Eric Basilio (Administration/Rotary Foundation), John Iringan (International Service/Public Relations), Mary June Bugante (New Generations Service), Manny Verar Jr. (Community Service), and Oshi Malinao (Vocational Service).

The other new officers of the Rotary Anns North are Deng Baldovino (VP-Internal), Gen Kulong (VP-External), Mel Iringan (Secretary), Helen Jeong (Asst. Sec.), Maleen de Asis (Treasurer), Kat Malinao (PIO), Carla Basilio (Auditor), and Pinky Saavedra (IPP). The Anns Board of Directors are Georgie Laviña, Nel Berdin, Mercy Corros, Zing Dizon, Alecs Salazar, Jenny Ramos, Mariz Verar, and Maggie Flores.
