If only all the men in uniforms in Zamboanga City are like him, all the wives and children of the Philippine National Police will be the happiest family members in this part of the world. Of course, the parents of these men will be proudest of them all. And probably, we will have more men of honor and dignity in our police forces.

The PNP officer Social Whirl salutes today no other than the newly promoted Gen. Ramon Ochotorena a dedicated officer and true gentleman.  He was promoted to One Star General last June 20 at Camp Crame from the rank of Police Senior Superintendent.

Gen. Ochotorena started his military and police career in 1983. He holds now the position of Deputy Regional Director for Administration the second highest position in Region 9. He is the first graduate of Western Mindanao State University to be promoted as a General in the police service. He finished the course of AB Political Science in 1982 in this university.

Because of his exemplary and commendable performance in his assigned tasks, Gen. Ochotorena has been cited with various awards and recognition among them are the Best Police Provincial Mobile Group under him from former Philippines President Fidel Ramos, PNP Officer of the Year, special citation from FBI-USA, Best Provincial Police  Officer, Outstanding Policeman of Zamboanga City, Academic Excellence from PNP College, other recognitions,medals and plaques from various government and NGOs institutions.

Gen Ochotorena is the son of the late Col. Felix Ochotorena and Dr. Gaudiosa Martinez-Ochotorenaa well-known academician and psychologist. The Ochotorena siblings credit their successful careers to their parents who brought them up with integrity and strong character.

Gen. Ochotorena attributes the success of his career to the full support of his wife Dr. Carla Ochotorena WMSU VP for Academics. She has not only been the wind beneath his wings, she has always been her partner thru thick or thin of their lives as married couple. Carla is a loving wife and a very good mother to their three children, namely, Zamantha Airibn, Franz Chezka Kathrize, and Leirrand Christian, Gen. Ochotorena proudly beams.

A thanksgiving party was given to Gen. Ochotorena last July 3, 2014 at the Grand Astoria Hotel. The officers and staff of PNP, government officials, the business sectors, families, and friends gave their salutations to him.
