Do you know that the 70 is the new 50 today? More senior citizens are still active and alert in this decade. And DZT Tickle Me Pink columnist Betty Elago epitomizes it.
Yup, Betty does not look her age and as if she was only into her golden age when you see her. That’s the feeling and what the guests saw when the former beauty queen the first Miss Zamboanga and most sought-after campus beauty Miss ZAEC during her college days, Betty Elago, celebrated her 70th birthday. Betty is still beautiful and looks younger than her age. She even awed everybody when she danced passionately the Tango as a surprise number.

Held at Zamboanga City’s top party place Park 88 in ritzy Pasonanca last September 7, families, relatives, and friends trooped to greet Betty more happy birthdays to come. It was a night of fun, fun, fun, laughter and smile. There were singing and dancing to commemorate and thank God for another year for this beautiful Zamboangueña. Her birthday wish is hubby Vincent will get well and recover so that they will enjoy life together as they used to.

Betty is admired for being a supportive wife and caring mother. Aside from gardening, cooking, and writing to keep busy, she never pursued a career.  She became a full-time housewife to former Department of Tourism (DOT) Director Vincent Elago and loving mother to her 5 successful children, sons City Councilor VP, John, Matthew, pretty daughters Margie Elag-Pamaran and Angel Elago-Teodoro.

More happy long-healthy life, Betty!

“Life has got to be lived – that’s all there is to it. At seventy, I would say the advantage is that you take life more calmly. You know that ‘this, too, shall pass!” Eleanor Roosevelt.
