Among all my 4 children, my eldest son Dr. Danilo Corteza Jr., whom we fondly call Toto, is the most reserved, shy and low profile type of person. He is not sociable who likes to go out and party. But I am proud that he is an achiever.

Dr. Milabel Ho, Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) president, said she is fortunate and grateful for Toto’s loyalty as the University’s Board Secretary. He holds the keys and all the “secrets” of her administration. And she fully trusts him.

Dr. Ho said all of this during the surprise dinner birthday party of Toto last Friday when he celebrated his 51st birthday at Park 88 in Pasonanca last November 14. It was given to him by his loving and thoughtful wife, Dr. Fides “Bebot” Corteza. She contacted his close friends and connived with their 3 children, their parents, and his brother Nonoy Dante to go ahead of them.

Bebot told Toto that they will just have an intimate dinner since he never had the chance to celebrate his 50th “golden” birthday last year (he was in Manila for WMSU Board of Regent Meeting). And he got surprised when they entered Park 88’s Chi-Cha Function Room, his family, parents, parents-in-law, some friends, and his boss, Dr. Ho, were there to greet him. We sang him his half-century birthday song.

Toto blew his birthday cake from Myrna’s Bake House before we had a sumptuous dinner prepared by Park 88 chef. The night continued with videoke sing-along. Park 88 is indeed one of the best places to celebrate memorable moments of our lives. Delicious food and nice ambiance complete the celebration.

Belated happy birthday, my son Toto! May our good Lord continue to bless you with wisdom, protection, and good health all the time.
