Here’s a briefer report from Zamboanga’s Saint Joseph Chinese Catholic Women’s Association (SJFCCWA) Vice-President Mary Margie Wee about the 16th Federation Filipino Chinese Catholic Women’s Organization (FFCCWO) National Convention experience of Zamboanga City delegation. This is the national association of active Filipino Chinese Catholic women.

It was a journey for them that they will always treasure. Held at Dumaguete City last March 2-4, 2012, it was a spiritual blessing once more for the members of this religious organization. Beyond the fellowship and developing friendship, they do get inspired to learn from the 34 chapters nationwide. These they can apply in their respective group when they come back. They were also encouraged from the different messages they heard during the convention proper.

The Zamboanga City delegates took different routes in going there. Some rode air plane via Manila but most via Cebu City and from there took a boat or fast craft to Dumaguete March 1. The boat of past Council of President (COP) Abelarda Wong was caught with wild waves at Dumaguete pier. It was scary and frightening boat ride but when God is with you, Wee said, it was a “fun experience”. And they placed it behind when they had a sumptuous dinner treat by gracious host Anesia Sy of Dumaguete chapter that night.

They are grateful and appreciated the preparation made by MIPUA Dumaguete Chapter. It was well-organized and they were treated comfortably. The convention started with a Holy Mass by John F. Du, DD of Dumaguete,Rev.Fr. Peter O.Tieng on the 2nd day, and Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian SVD, DD on the 3rd day.

Local Sandurot dance energetically welcomed all the delegates followed by the exchange of gifts called Sandurot. The call to order was rolled by FFCCWO National President Raquel Lu after the welcome message of Convention Chair Anesia Sy. Host Chapter president Lorna Liu also gave a special message.

To keep every evening lively, the different chapter presentations were divided each night. Zamboanga chapter was fortunate to do the honor on the first night with a Yakan-Vamos Zamboanga medley dance. It was well applauded.
Second day had Rev.Fr. Joey A. Faller, as speaker, spoke about "Bread Broken and Shared...The Eucharist as a source of Wholeness." In the afternoon, fashion mogul Jean Goulbourn, as their inspirational speaker, talked about health and wellness as well how to combat depression and suicide.

On the 3rd day, they had a workshop, election of National officers and the spiritual advisers meeting. Newly elected FFCCWO National president was Juana Go of Binondo Chapter with Bohol as the next convention site. Dr.Araceli.Tan of Zamboanga City was again elected on her second term as Board of Director for Mindanao together with Vergie Po of Butuan. The Buglasan dance of Dumaguete on the last day amazed the delegates. It was also the turn- over of newly elected officers. Evening was the wonderful concert of local singing priests that delighted everyone. Wee happily shared too that co-chapter Zamboanguena Letty Suarez won the first prize during a raffle draw.
