The Philippine Red Cross – Zamboanga Chapter presented their 2012 Miss Red Cross-Zamboanga City candidates to the public and declared the winners of its first canvassing at the Celebrity Hall of Grand Astoria Hotel last August 18, 2012.  This annual beauty, brain and talent search cum fund raising event is one of the prestigious beauty pageants of our city. The crowned winner will represent Red Cross-Zamboanga Chapter as ambassadress of goodwill in different events of the organization. She will help in the Red Cross advocacy of encouraging people to donate blood that can save lives of people.

Since they represent different major sectors of our city, Miss Red Cross candidates are meticulously selected and carefully screened first by a panel of judges. Aside from possessing pleasing personality, they are intelligent, talented, have high moral value, and daughters of respectable families.

This year there are 5 young beautiful lass who will vie for the coveted 2012 Miss Red Cross-Zamboanga City. They are Kristal Dawn T. Apolinario (City Government Sector) won first number in the first canvassing followed by Jessielyn C. Samson (Philippine National Police Sector) who got second place. Yvonne T. Napao (Business Establishment Sector), Maria Joy F. Pelayo (Industrial Sector), and Erica Jane C. Elli (Education Sector) placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the canvass respectively. Venue and date of the next canvassing of votes and coronation night will be announced later.

The presentation and first canvassing coincided with the awarding of the Zamboanga Red Cross 2012 Best Men and Women Achievers of our society (more about the awardees in my next column).

Please support our Miss Red Cross 2012 candidates and help save lives.
