With the goodness of her heart and the full support of her administration, different colleges, and the students, Western Mindanao State University president Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho led the university’s annual Christmas get-together party with a twist last December 19, 2012 at the university’s gym. The party’s theme was inspired by fantasy costumes, Marvel comics and Disney characters to showcase cool fun side of the university.

It was enjoyable evening as one by one the WMSU Christmas partygoers arrived in their best costumes. It elicited wows and woohs from one another. Dr. Ho was like a cute doll in her Ao Dai dress, a traditional Vietnamese formal dress. It was a night of relaxation and entertainment filled with dance numbers, prizes and surprises.

And amid the merry making, the smiles and the joys of the affair, Dr. Ho called on everybody to help the victims of Typhoon Pablo in Davao Oriental. The university placed a drop box where solicited food items, canned goods, clothings, shoes, and other donated basic needs were gathered for our unfortunate fellow Mindanawons  devastated by this natural disaster.

The highlight of the occasion was the launching of the WMSU Christmas Family music video, in which different officials, faculty members, students participated in the rendition of ABS-CBN’s Kwento ng Pasko Station ID. Candles were lit while the audience was touched by the heartwarming lyrics of the song. Prayers were offered to the victims of the typhoon Pablo and as well as for the oneness and solidarity of the university.

The university’s Board of Regents together with Dr. Ho also took the opportunity to commend the honesty and the laudable act of Engr. Oscar Sicat, the Director of the university’s Planning Office. Last September during the Civil Service Month, Engr. Sicat was tasked to buy wristwatches for the WMSU employees. The local store in which he bought the items gave out raffle tickets and eventually the ticket won a prize of a flat screen television unit.

Instead of keeping the prize to himself, he conscientiously and unselfishly disclosed that the ticket won a prize and turned over the television unit to the office of the president. Dr. Ho said that she won’t let a good and admirable act of Engr. Sicat be unnoticed. This recognition will encourage other employees to do the same, Dr. Ho added.

May the blessings of our good Lord continue to shower to WMSU as the year 2013 unfolds and in the many years to come!

Thanks to Ekeena O. Lim of the WMSU-Public Affairs Office for the inputs and pictures about this event.
