Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College-ZCSPC (former Zamboanga School of Arts and Trade) is physically growing. Since the takeover of current president, Dr. Nora Ponce, this educational institution has grown by leaps and bounds. New course are being offered, teachers are being trained as well as the administrative staff, and the most visual of all, are the constructions and renovations of buildings and facilities.

Last Friday, June 21, I had the privilege to witness the blessing and turn-over of the Zamboanga City Government to the school the new ZCSPC Training and Seminar Center Building. According to Dr. Ponce, in behalf of her administration and school population, they are grateful for the full support of Zamboanga Ctity Mayor Celso Lobregat. This government project is in line with the passion of Mayor Lobregat to give priority to education.

The ceremony coincided too with the induction of Dr. Ponce as the new president of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities of Industrial Technology (PACUIT), Inc.  Held on the same day and venue, the other PACUIT officers sworn into office were Dr. Olympio Caparas (VP for Luzon), Dr.  Bonifacio Villanueva (VP for Visayas), Dr. Perfecto Alibin (VP for Mindanao), Dr. Luis Sorolla Jr. (Secretary), Dr. Don Vicente Real (Treasurer), and Dr. Renato Sorolla (Auditor). The new PASCUIT Trustees are Dr. Elpidio Magante, Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, Dr. Cornilio Garcia, and Dr Baldomero Martinez with Dr. Renato Alba as the new Executive Director.

As PACUIT president, Dr. Ponce is bringing honor and opportunities to promote Zamboanga City to members of this highly esteemed national organization.
