Rotarian Zamboanga North and Rotary Seognam engaged to change lives PDF Print E-mail

The sisterhood agreement of the Rotary Club City of Zamboanga City North with the Rotary Club of Seongnam Seonil, South Korea of District 3600 is very apt to the Rotary International theme, “Engage Rotary Change Lives.”

These noble clubs has been conducting joint projects for Divisoria Elementary School for the last five years and changing lives in this public school.  Aside from donating school needs, they were able to donate 33 units of computers for the school’s computer laboratory from the matching Grant from Rotary International last year.  This year a water system for the drinking fountain of the school is now under construction.

Indeed, these Rotarians are engaged to change lives and will continue to do. Last July 13, 2013,
they signed their sixth sisterhood agreement during the Rotary Zamboanga North’s 34th  Joint Induction and Turn-Over Ceremonies with Rotary Zamboanga City Anns at the Crystal Ballroom of Grand Astoria Hotel. They pledged again to do more joint projects and make lives better by serving others. It was witnessed by Past District Governor (PDG) Rolando “Oyan” Villanueva and District Governor Mark Anthony Ortiz. The ladies wore beautiful and colorful Korean dresses while the gentlemen were dapper in formal suits and barong tagalog.

Inducted as the new President of Rotary Zamboanga North was Delfin “Jimmy” Saavedra. He took over from active and young businessman Osbert “Oshi” Malinao.  The other new officers of the club are Kenneth  “Ken” Salazar as Vice-President;  Osbert Malinao as Club Secretary and New Generationsr; Kerwin “Win” Baldovino as Club Administration; Virgilio “Vin” Berdin as Treasurer; Eric Basilio as Club Foundation/Membership; DOT Director Mary June Bugante as Club Fellowship; Jonathan “John” Iringan as Club Protocol; Eugene “Gene” de Asis as Club Service; Mark Jeong as International Service; and Rodrigo “Boy” Filoteo as President-Elect/ Sgt.-at-Arms.

Outgoing Rotary Ann North President Kathrina “Kat” Malinao turned over her position to Pinky Saavedra. The new sets of Rotary Ann North officers are Edna Filoteo (Vice-President Internal); Glenda Baldovino (Vice-President External); Melody Iringan (Secretary); Helen Jeong (Asst. Secretary); Marilyn De Asis (Treasurer); Carla Basilio (Auditor); Alexandra Salazar (PIO); and Kat Malinao (Ex-Officio). The new Board of Directors are PP Georgie Laviña, Genevieve Kulong, Nelly Berdin, Zing Dizion, Analyn Pre Leonor, Mercy Coros.and Jenny Ramos.
