One of Zamboanga City’s respected and oldest medical practitioners, Dr. Romulo Garcia, celebrated his 80th birthday with a grand celebration at the posh Astoria Regency last July 27, 2013. It was hosted by his charming wife, Aida Garcia, with the support of his children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends gave a toast to this great physician.

Fondly called Mulong or Romy, Dr. Garcia is also an active civic leader. He is involved in Lions Club and a contemporary of my late father, Paking Espiritu, in this organization. They have been together in conducting medical and charitable activities. He has been the president of Iloilo Medical Society twice and also served as president of the Pangasinan Association of Zamboanga City. He is from Pangasinan who first practice in Jolo, Sulu before moving in our city.  He was the former chief of hospital of Sulu Provincial Hospital.

Aida, who is a nurse in profession, is his lifetime partner in their sweet abode and in his private clinic.   Aida sang him love songs that touched our hearts and brought smile to the guests. She sang sweetly that it prompted my hubby, Danny, to ask me to do the same.

It was a night of glamour and ritzy in an ambiance of a great love to a great man of honor. More happy birthdays to come, Dr. Garcia! Cheers to a good health to you! (Thanks to Richard Ledesma for the pictures in this spread).
