Police Regional Office 9 Director Chief Supt. Elpidio Z. De Asis Jr. has expressed gratitude to the Australian government for funding the construction of a new building for the Regional Intelligence Unit at Camp Batalla and a building for the Regional Intelligence Office ( R2 ) in Camp Abendan.

The blessing and inauguration of the two buildings were held yesterday with Steven Lancaster, Assistant Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police and agent Jared Taggart, Chief Supt. Manuel Barcena and Mayor Celso Lobregat gracing the occasion.

PRO9 Chaplain Chief Insp. Gilbert Ilagan officiated the blessing rite.
De Asis said the new building is an “asset, office and shelter” for PRO9  operatives.

He said the Australian Federal Police also pledged to donate equipment for communication, computers and surveillance gadgets and to provide training on how to detect cyber crimes, anti-terrorism and effective combatting of crimes.

Agent Taggart said the realization of the project was through the initiative of former Directorate for Integrated Police Operations Western Mindanao Commander Chief Supt. Angelo H. Sunglao(ret.) when he was then the PRO-9 Director. — Allen Abastillas
