The city’s rehabilitation of barangays severely affected during the September siege is well on its way as the city government has already approved the plans for the first phase of the rehabilitation efforts.

Mayor Beng Climaco made the announcement yesterday morning during the regular press briefing held at city hall, while City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Rodrigo Sicat discussed the recent development in length.

The signed plans include those of the 520 housing-on-stilts will be constructed in Mariki Village; 172 duplex loftable units in Paniran Resettlement and 47 duplex loftable units at Martha Drive HOA Subdivision.

NHA will construct a total of 3,241 housing-on-stilts and 2,346 on-land housing units (1,189 one-storey and 1,157 two-storey units).

“Affected families will be provided with the materials for the construction of their houses,” he explained. Per the approved Zamboanga Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) master plan, the NHA has targeted 7,248 families for housing assistance and expects to complete the delivery of the different modes of Shelter Assistance on or before the middle of 2015.

NHA will likewise provide qualified families with home material assistance (HOMA) of P30,000 within the month. The agency is awaiting for the city council resolution for the city government to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the NHA for the release of the HOMA funds worth P49.83M.

The NHA surveyors were on the ground last January 30 in preparation for their architectural and engineering plans and designs. — Claudine Uniana
