Schools Division welcomes back Cathy Casipong PDF Print E-mail

The whole citizenry of Zamboanga City, especially the family of educators in the Schools Division rejoice with the family of teacher Cathy Casipong for her safe release by her abductors last March 11.

Casipong was freed after more than three months in captivity. She was abducted on December 18, 2013, sadly, during the celebration of the Schools Division Teachers’ Day.

“. Thank you to the people who, directly or indirectly contributed greatly in the negotiation which resulted in this celebration of life; Our thanks goes to the Local Government Unit, headed by our beloved Mayor Beng Climaco, our Task Force Zamboanga, Philippine National Police, other Law enforcers, our respected Congressman Celso L. Lobregat and Congresswoman Lilia M. Nuño and individuals who, in one way or another, exerted all efforts and resources for her release,” said a press statement from the Schools Division.

“Our appreciation also to the members of the DepEd family and colleagues of Teacher Cathy for the continuous support and love expressed through prayers and assistance by accommodating her students into their classes,” the statement said.

“Further, we strongly condemn not just the abduction done to Teacher Cathy but all kind of violent and cruel acts which target the innocent people of this city and the nation as a whole. Finally, grateful as we are for Teacher Cathy’s release, the division hopes and prays for justice to be served, for her and for the rest who have experienced the same. It is further prayed that occurrence of this violent acts won’t happen again, not to our teachers nor anyone for that matter,” it said
