A businessman was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in his store in Purok 4, Buenavista last Monday night.

The fatality was identified as Abdulsa Akbar y Ibrahim, 42, married. He sustained bullet wounds in the chest and right arm and was rushed to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A police report disclosed that Akbar was about to close his store around 8 p.m., when a gunman appeared from behind and shot him twice.

The assailant escaped before the police arrived at the scene.
Recovered at the crime were two spent shells and one slug of .45 caliber pistol.
City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo said the Curuan police were still gathering information that would lead to the arrest of the killer.

In another incident, a caddie was stabbed and killed in Golf Village, Upper Calarian last Tuesday night.
The fatality was identified as Orlando Gamorez, 34, single. He succumbed to a stab wound in the neck and died on the spot. His body was discovered several hours after the incident.

A police report disclosed that Gamorez was having a drinking spree with some friends last Tuesday night. After consuming several bottles of beer, Gamorez left the group and went home.

Investigators said that no one saw the incident as Gamorez’ body was discovered several hours later. — Dan Toribio Jr.
