In support of the city’s thrust to reduce – if not entirely eliminate – cases of dog bites and rabies, the Office of the City Veterinarian has stepped up its efforts to clean city streets of stray dogs.

Last month, the office has caught a total of 190 dogs in dog-catching activities conducted in the barangays.

Barangay Tetuan leads the roster with a total of 115 dogs caught whereas Barangay Talon-Talon contributed 44 dogs to the list.

Barangays Tumaga, Sta. Maria and San Roque caught 15, 10 and 6 canines, respectively.

The Office of the City Veterinarian is leading the city’s observance of the Rabies Awareness Month which kicked off March 5th with a motorcade that culminated in a short program at Southcom Elementary School in Calarian. — Claudine Uniana
