Interfaith leaders meet Italian guest on Bangsamoro Peace Agreement PDF Print E-mail

The Interfaith Council of Leaders of Zamboanga met with Prof. Alberto Quatrucci last Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Yakan Room of the Garden Orchid Hotel on the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement.

Prof. Quatrucci is the Secretary General of the International Meetings of Peoples and Religions based in Rome, Italy.  He represents the community of Sant’ Egidio as one of the official observers of the meetings in Kuala Lumpur of the GRP and the MILF.

According to Quatrucci, he came to understand the real situation in Mindanao concerning the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement and wanted to find out if the community of Sant’ Egidio, which is a lay community, can help in the negotiations of the government and the Bangsamoro.

Together with Quatrucci were two other members of the Italian media who came to know about the people and the relationship between Muslims and Christians.

The community of Sant’ Egidio is present in 16 African countries.  It builds friendship with the poor, the physically and psychologically handicapped.  It promotes the message of hope saying that hope is very important, we cannot live without it, that only with the courage of hope can we change the world.

Other speakers in the meeting were Mr. Ismael Abubakar, Jr. IFCL coordinator for the muslims and Atty. Arsenio Gonzales, Jr.  IFCL coordinator for the Christians.
