District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat marked his natal day with simple yet meaningful activities that kicked off with a mass at the St. Joseph Church early yesterday morning.

The mass was attended by members of his family, close friends and supporters and city government officials led by Mayor Beng Climaco.

From the mass, Lobregat proceeded to the City Health Office where a blood letting activity with over 300 blood donors was held. It was spearheaded by the Zamboanga Red Cross in cooperation with the CHO and the Zamboanga Hermosa Lions Club.

And as a tradition, Lobregat visited the different centers to share blessings that included foodstuff and other relief goods. A total of 285 kids and senior citizens benefitted from the outreach activity.

Lobregat distributed food packs, fruits, toys and toiletries.

Among the centers visited were the Home for the Elderly in Talon-talon, the Reception and Study Center also in Talon-talon, Katilingban Center, Social Development Center and Women’s Crisis Center.

“It was a simple yet meaningful celebration of gift of life,” Lobregat said.

Senior citizens at the Home for the Elderly expressed joy and thanked the District 1 solon for always remembering them not only during his birthday but also during special occasions like Christmas and Valentine’s Day.  — Rey Carbonel
