The Information Caravan series visited the Tulungatung transitory site to present the latest rehabilitation and recovery updates to approximately 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs), Monday, March 24.

Comprised of the City Government as well as the representatives of local and national government agencies, the Information Caravan discussed among other things, the plan for rehabilitation and recovery as encompassed in the Zamboanga Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R), livelihood concerns, as well as shelter considerations.

With regards to housing, Housing and Land Management Division Officer Rodrigo Pagotaisidro emphasized that IDPs should have their houses tagged in order to be included in the masterlist for shelter and housing.

Families who have not yet tagged their houses and lots were enjoined to coordinate with the HLMD to properly document and tag their properties.

Meanwhile, Engr. Reynaldo Bolay-og of the National Housing Authority (NHA) presented the different housing models and plans, as well as the housing materials assistance (HOMA) program being prepared and finalized by the NHA.

The HOMA will be providing selected beneficiaries, specifically lot owners whose properties were affected during the September crisis, with housing materials worth Php 30,000.00. It should be noted that the HOMA will not include costs and expenses for labor.

Present during the Caravan were Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Director for Operations Elizabeth Dy, City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Rodrigo Sicat, Asst. City Social Welfare Officer Leonida Bayan, Lulung Franscisco of the City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO), DPWH Representative Engr. Pablo Escuadro, City Assessor Erwin Bernardo and numerous others.

Themed Comunicacion es Ayuda (Communication is Aid), the Information Caravan is the City Government’s response to the pressing need of IDPs for accurate and timely information, and it is set to visit the different evacuation centers and transitory sites in operation.

The first two Caravans were held at the evacuation centers of the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex and the Talon-Talon elementary school. —Jasmine Mohammadsali
