School officials, teachers and personnel of the Lobregat National High School in Divisoria prevented what could have been a big fire after one of the classrooms was detected as emitting smoke and flames last Tuesday morning.

A police report disclosed that Mr. Nelson Ansaldo, a teacher, reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection that there was an ongoing fire in the school.

When firemen and investigators responded, they learned that the flames came from Room 6 occupied by Mrs. Pilar Trumata.

Report said it was originated at the said office from the piles of books and papers.

When school staff learned of the incident, they helped each other throw all the burning things out of the room and extinguished the flames with water using different containers.

The fire was placed under control by the school personnel.

Fire investigators estimated the damage at P5,000. —  Dan Toribio Jr.
