The Highway Patrol Group-9 has placed all its Provincial Teams in the region on full alert status.

Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin, chief, Highway Patrol Group-9, said the declaration of full alert status is not only in regional level but a nationwidemove in connection with the 45th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). The full alert status took effect on March 27 as ordered by the Philippine National Police Directorate for Operations.

The memorandum directed all PNP units nationwide to be extra alert and vigilant. All units are reminded to continue providing security services to all vital installations, economic key points, all places of convergence in their respective areas of responsibility and ensure high state of operational readiness to thwart any hostile action that maybe launched by lawless and terror groups.

Agustin said that aside from full alert status, his command continues its operations against carnappings.

He directed all provincial teams to stay alert at all cost and double check all motorvehicles passing their areas of jurisdiction.

Agustin said any carnapper will take advantage of the current situation because the police are focusing on the communists movement’s anniversary. — Allen Abastillas
