The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) District 93-A here in Zamboanga announced that effective April 1 to 15, 2014m all Authorized Agent Banks (BIR-AABs) will be open until 5 p.m. Monday till Friday and will be open two Saturdays before the April 15, 2014 dateline which will be on April 5 and April 14 this month.

Revenue District Officer Cresencio A. Agad told listeners during their radio program “BIR on Line), aired every Wednesday from 9:00 to 10 a.m. over the state-owned Radyo ng bayan-Zamboanga that the implementation of certain policies during this income tax filing season is in response to the need of the tax paying public.

Agad said that accredited banks in the city is in line with the agreement of  signed by Commissioner Kim s. Jacinto-Henares with thebank association  for the extension of banking hours and opening of additional counters to accommodate the taxpayers.

The accredited banks in the city are also reminded of Bank bulletin N0 2014-04 issued Feb 11, 2014 to be open till 5:00 pm and on the two Saturdays mentioned above. The AABs in the city are: Devt Bank of the Philippines, Port Area; Land Bank of the Philippines, Pettit Barracks and Veterans Avenue branches; Phil. National Bank, Veterans Avenue and Climaco Avenue branches; Metro Bank & Trust Company, Gov. Lim Avenue and P. Brillantes St; China Banking Corporation, Gov. Lim Avenue and United Coconut Planters Bank at Rizal Street.

Meantime,  Agad  appealed to taxpayers not to wait for the last day of filling to avoid  the rush and inconveniences. He added that taxpayers are required to file their income tax returns for 2013 at the BIR district office where they are registered.
