Mayor Celso Lobregat has issued an executive order declaring the period from March 28-April 3, 2011 as Rotary Week in Zamboanga City ushering the conduct of the Annual District Conference of Rotary International District 3850.

The conference, set to be held from April 1-3, is expected to be participated by more or less 1,500 Rotarians coming from all over the Philippines to include national and foreign personalities and dignitaries.

EO number CL-389-2011 issued February 21 is based on request of Rotary District Governor James Makasiar and Conference committee chair Raymond Padayhag.

Dubbed “Alegria na Zamboanga”, the 3-day conference is expected to showcase the potentials and attractions of Zamboanga City  and could be one opportunity for local residents to show visitors what truly Zamboanga City is—beautiful and vibrant and peaceful.

Mayor Lobregat has expressed gratitude to the Rotary International District 3850 for choosing Zamboanga, now branded as “Asia’s Latin City” as the venue for the gathering of “service oriented volunteers, who uphold the ideals of higher ethical standards in profession and business, who foster goodwill and understanding and who support the cause of humanitarian endeavor. “

“It is my wish that this Conference will be a huge success”, the mayor hoped as he also wished the participants a happy and fruitful stay in the city. — Sheila Covarrubias/City Hall PIO
