Land Transportation Office Zamboanga City District Officer Noel M. Noche yesterday disclosed that acquisition of motorvehicles in Zamboanga City in 2013  is lower compared to  2012.

Noche categorized the acquisition and comparison of the decrease in his records: For private motorvhicles acquisition, a total of 69,464 units was registered for 2013 as compared 73,124 units for 2012.

For government motorvehicle acquisition, a total of 1,181 units was registered for 2013 as compared to 1,280  units in 2012. Acquisition of motorvehicles for hire —  6,531 units for 2013. and 6,694 units for 2012.

Exempted motorvehicles: Only 1 in 2013 as compared to three units in 2012.

Noche’s office recorded no registration for diplomatic vehicles from 2009 to 2013.

The acquisition of  motorcycles is the highest among of all others. There were 52,218  units in 2012 as  compared toonly 48,973 units in 2013.. For utility motorvehicles, there were only 11,794 units as compared to 12,028 units in 2012.

The acquisition of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs ) has the same figure in 2013 and 2012 — 2,113 units.

Noche attributed the decrease in the acquisition of motorvehicles to September MNLF siege in Zamboanga City as people here may have been saving money for future events. — Allen Abastillas
