In a display of the strong partnership between her administration and the business community as well as her commitment to furthering the quality of education in the city, Mayor Beng Climaco led the unveiling of five newly-rehabilitated classrooms at the Zamboanga East Central School (ZECS) Thursday morning.

“We really must work together to ensure our children get a brighter future and I am happy that we have strong partners who are as concerned with our children’s education as we are,” the lady mayor said.

In gratitude for the continuous support to education, City Schools Division Superintendent Pete Natividad told ZECS officials to take care of the classrooms.

School Principal Dr. Estella Esperat herself thanked Mayor Beng Climaco for helping secure the endowment from the Zamboanga City Filipino Chinese Chamber (ZCFCC) with donations from Zhang Yong Quan, Mr and Mrs Ben Ang, Hapi Shopping Center, Solar Resources and the family of the late Tieng Lim and Yu Sui Kim.

ZCFCC officers and representatives were present to turn over the classrooms to the lady mayor who in turn turned it over to CSD Superintendent Natividad and school officials.

The rehabilitated classrooms is a joint project of the ZCFCC and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Inc. under their “Operation Barrio Schools” program.

Also present during the turnover were ZECS teachers, pupils and their parents. — Claudine Uniana
