Local police authorities continue to work hard to rid Zamboanga of criminals.

Joining Mayor Beng Climaco and other personalities during yesterday’s regular press briefing at City Hall, Acting City Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro presented the PNP’s accomplishments last week in line with their fight against crime and lawlessness as well as the enforcement of various laws.

The Zamboanga City Police Office conducted four operations in the campaign against wanted persons which resulted in the arrest of four persons.

The local police are also seriously fighting illegal drugs in the city, having led four drug-related operations, arrested eight persons and confiscated 8 sachets of illegal drugs worth P2,100.

One caliber .38 revolver was likewise recovered and a person was arrested when police forces organized an operation against loose firearms.

The campaign against illegal gambling is also gaining momentum as 14 slot machines had been recovered in 7 operations.

Meanwhile, two missing motorcycles have been recovered after two operations were conducted resulting to the arrest of three suspected motorcycle thieves.

The Sangali Police Station arrested five persons for illegal fishing and confiscated a hulbut-hulbut with fine net and assorted fish. These were turned over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for the filing of case in court. — Claudine Uniana/City Hall PIO
