Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has called on officials to follow the way of Jesus Christ by caring for the poor, hungry and oppressed.

In her Lenten message released to media outlets, the fighting secretary in the Cabinet of President Aquino, as public servants, officials should emulate Christ to put real meaning to public service where the poor and the oppressed are made as focus with the aim of improving their lives or alleviating their miseries.

“Embrace the Cross of Jesus, Embrace the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the street children, the sick, elderly, disabled and the vagrants, victims of injustice and political exploitation... Enrich their lives with good governance, honesty and love. Serve all without counting the cost. Look at our fellowmen with the eyes of Jesus,” De Lima said in her Lenten message.
