A woman believed to be an abortionist and her 12-year-old daughter who is said to be her assistant were arrested by the police during an operation along P. Lorenzo St. Tuesday afternoon.

Nabbed were Evelyn Laurente y Utuh, 48, and her daughter, both of Arena Blanco.

A sketchy report said the police have received information that Laurente was practicing abortion involving several clients.

Last Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., policemen conducted surveillances along Lorenzo St. where moments later they spotted a man and his wife approaching Laurente for an abortion deal.

Amid their conversation, policemen cornered and arrested Laurente and her daughter. They were taken to the city police office for investigation.

The girl was later turned over to the SDC center for temporary shelter as she is under age.

Laurente was detained pending the filing of charges in court.

Police yesterday readied all the necessary documents to use in the inquest proceeding for the proper charges to be recommended to the City Prosecutor Office against Laurente. – Dan Toribio Jr.
