Mayor Beng Climaco has urged the police and military and other agencies concerned to coordinate efforts and ensure the orderly and peaceful observance of the Holy Week.

At the same time, the mayor appealed to residents to strictly heed rules and regulations set by authorities specifically Executive Orders 47 and 48 that took effect 6pm April 16 until 6am April 19.

EO 47 prohibits liquor, bladed weapons and firearms within the Climaco Freedom Park and EO 48 orders the imposition of a temporary traffic rerouting scheme at the Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-abong, Pasonanca.

The issuance of the orders is to ensure solemnity and orderly and peaceful observance of the Holy Week.

The police and military are implementing a comprehensive security plan specifically at the Climaco Freedom Park in Pasonanca, the center of religious activities, as well as in the other places of worship and convergence in the city proper and the barangays.

The mayor said the cooperation and support of all sectors is necessary to ensure the successful outcome of the Holy week observance.

The observance of Holy Week, particularly on Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, usually draws thousands of people from all walks of life to the Mayor Cesar C. Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-Abong, Pasonanca for the traditional vigil and Way of the Cross prayers, thus causing vehicular and pedestrian traffic congestions on roads leading to the park. — Sheila Covarrubias
