Beng lauds police, TFZ for peaceful, orderly Holy Week PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco has commended and thanked police and military authorities for the peaceful and orderly observance of Holy Week, as she also cited the general public for the support and cooperation to peace keeping efforts.

Aside from making the rounds of the different places of worship and convergence, the mayor also joined the Holy Week devotions where she observed the stringent measures implemented by the authorities to ensure law and order.

Mayor Climaco likewise lauded the efforts of barangay officials and parishes which became the center of activities from April 16-19. She said strong collaboration among the different sectors paved way for the solemn and peaceful observance of the holy week.

The local police reported that the Holy week observance in the city was generally peaceful stressing that no untoward incident happened during the series of religious activities that included the Visita iglesia on Thursday, procession on Good Friday and masses in the different churches as well as in the activities at the Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-abong.

Personnel from the Zamboanga City Police Office augmented by forces from the Regional Police Office and Task Force Zamboanga were deployed to undertake Oplan Semana Santa, a comprehensive security plan, crafted to ensure solemnity and peace in the observance of the holy week. No reports of confiscation of prohibited items such as liquor, bladed weapons and firearms were also reported.

The mayor thanked the PRO-9 Director Gen. Juanito Vano, City Police OIC Director Col. Angelito Casimiro and Task Force Zamboanga Commander Col. Andrelino Colina and all the police and military personnel for the positive outcome of the implementation of security measures. — Sheila Covarrubias
