Marines manning a checkpoint in Talon-Talon intercepted a shipment of ammunition aboard a passenger jeepney Sunday afternoon.

A police report disclosed that the soldiers stopped a PUJ bound for Mampang for inspection and found thereat a cardboard box containing heavy objects.

For verification, soldiers opened the box and found 170 rounds of 5.56 caliber, four short empty magazines of M16 rifle and a stainless pair of handcuffs.

During investigation, no one from the passengers claimed ownership of the ammunition.

After ocular investigation, soldiers turned over the ammunition, magazines and the handcuffs to the 9th Regional Public Safety Battalion for proper disposition.

Investigators were still trying to determine the identity of the owner of the ammunition.

DZT gathered that the owner was aboard the vehicle when it was intercepted but he did not react when the soldiers found the ammunition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
