Zamboanga del Norte will celebrate its founding day known as “Hudyaka” with several activities from May 1 to 31, 2011.

The celebration will also coincide with the hosting of the Palarong Pambansaon May 6 hosted by Dapitan City and Dipolog City.

Department of Tourism 9 OIC Regional Director Bernard C. Gregorio said the twin cities will be very busy with the influx of visitors and tourists, both local and foreign for the one month celebration.
Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy supports the hosting of Palarong Pambansa 2011 for its success and her city is very honored to co-host the annual sport activities in the country.

According to Gregorio, the twin cities prepare for the entry of many tourists local, national and foreign with five regular trips of boats from Dumaguete Citty, Cebu City, Tacloban City, Bohol City , Cagayan De Oro City and nearby provinces. The entry of many visitors is attributed to the easy accessibility to the twin cities.

Meanwhile, Gregrorio attended the National Tourism Development  conference in Davao City last Thursday for the Mindanao Cluster consultation.

During the meeting, tourism officials discussed the improvement of airports, seaports, bus terminals and tourism security in the country.

On the other hand,  Gregorio is planning  to meet  with the multi-sectoral group of Zamboanga City  for tourism development and improvements and most especially to discuss the problem of “bad” tricycle drivers.

He said that “bad” tricycle drivers contribute to the bad image of the city because of their lack of discipline. notoriously discourteous, arrogant, overcharging passengers and sarcastic attitude. — Allen Abastillas
