Man hacked dead by ‘brother-in-law’ PDF Print E-mail

A 40-year-old man was hacked to death by the brother of his live-in-partner at Sitio Campo Unu, Labuan last Thursday night.

The fatality was identified as Rowel Solis y Francisco. He sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Police said that Solis was hacked by Benjie Luyao y Dura, 36, single, brother of Solis’ live-in-partner Victoria Luyao y Dura, 29.

A police report disclosed that Solis and Victoria had engaged in a heated argument due to some domestic problem. Amid their altercation, Solis punched Victoria on the cheek.

Moments later, Solis went out of their house without knowing Benjie was residing just a few meters away. The latter  waylaid and hacked him several times.

Benjie escaped after the incident, but he was arrested during a follow-up operation carried out by men of the Labuan Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Chester Natividad.

Benjie was detained at the Labuan Police Station pending the filing of charges in court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
