As Isabela City moves forward with several developments, Mayor Cherry Santos-Akbar is hoping and inviting more investors to come to bring more progress to this city in the island province of Basilan.

In an interview during the Isabela’s 13th founding anniversary last Friday, Akbar said the presence of more investors will help jobless people find jobs.

The mayor emphasized that residents and visitors are safe to stay in the city saying she isconfident the police and military are working hard to protect the community.

Akbar said Isabela City have beautiful places and attractions for visitors especially the beautiful beaches that can only be found in that place.

She added that visitors can also see with their naked eyes how peaceful now the place is and they can experience the different cultures of local residents.

In her simple speech during Friday’s program,  Akbar expressed gratitude to agencies like DOLE, UECI Fire Volunteers, DepEd, DSWD, DOH, Pilipinas Shell Foundation against Malaria, DILG, TESDA, PNP, AFP and her co-workers in the city government like the City Council, Department Heads and the employees who are working hard to serve the local folks.

“I know I have done what is best for all of us. My administration has implemented many programs and projects in all the barangays in the city, as what I had committed to you. With continuous health services such as Philhealth insurance, dental medical and outreach programs, hospitalization, financial and burial assistance, training and distribution of seedlings to farmers, regular release of pensions for senior citizens, peace and order campaign, scholarship program and others. We still have many ongoing projects like farm-to-market roads and soon for implementation of other projects especially the rehabilitation of the grandstand,” Akbar said. — Dan Toribio Jr.
