The first and original Zamboanga City Police Office Press Corps (ZCPOPC) founded by its president, veteran broadcaster Arsenio “Rawhide” Nuevo in the early ‘90s, will be formally revived in a simple meeting at the City Police Office today.

Regular and active newsmen covering the police beat unanimously decided and agreed to let Nuevo continue his position as president of the corps.

Highlight of the activity today at the City Police Office conference room at 2 p.m. will be the election of new set of officers from vice president down to sports coordinator.

The activity is strongly supported by the local police led by Acting City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro and SPO2 Alex Mabalot, Information Officer.

The revival of the police press corps is aimed to continue the good rapport of newsmen with the police so as to come up  with credible and balanced news for the public.

The police press corps since it was established by Nuevo and other officers had come up with various projects  including medical and dental outreach missions.

To be a member of the organization, he or she must have a media practitioner and must have outfit and output regardless on whether or not he or she is regularly employed

The press corps will issue official identification card to the members after the election of officers. — Dan Toribio Jr.
