Cagayan de Oro City, for the second straight year will go the Manila finals instead of Zamboanga City, after scoring a heart stopping 3-point victory over the hosts 97-94 in yesterday’s final game of the 3 team Mindanao finals of the Coca Cola PBA Young Stars tilt at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Memorial Coliseum in Tetuan yesterday morning.

By Virtue of its win over the host, ably represented by Southern City Colleges, Cagayan de Oro earned its second straight win, pushing Zamboanga to second spot with 1-1 win-loss card while Davao brought the rear winless in two matches.

The CDO team, this year represented by the Assumption Montessori School becomes the Mindanao area finalist to the national tilt set later this month.

The tournament here was held under the able stewardship of the SamahangBasketbolistangPilipinas or SBP and the FederacionBasketbolista de Zamboanga or FBZ both headed by Commissioner Pedro Alfaro Jr.

Tournament Director is Joel Quintanes while FerdieBernade acted as technical in charge of the tourney. — ELB
