Police are in control of the situation in the restive barangay of Recodo where angry residents clashed with personnel of the Dacon Company over land dispute last Saturday.

Chief Insp. Ariel T. Huesca, chief of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company, said yesterday that he has detailed three police teams to guard,  conduct police visibility and random patrols 24/7 in the Recodo area particularly at the Dacon Compound and the logpond

“The situation is now under control and back to normal,” said Huesca.

He said the root cause of the conflict in area is land.

“We are doing our best to make the area normal so that people can attend to their daily economic activities. We conduct day and night patrol in the area to ensure that the people’s safety,” Huesca said.

He disclosed that on Sunday night in a separate patrol operations in the area, two persons were arrested for carrying an unlicensed handgun and the other with a sachet containing suspected shabu.    The suspects will be brought for inquest to the City Prosecutor’s Office after the completion of the report of his investigators.

Huesca said that Task Force Zamboanga troopers are also securing the area.
