2 nabbed for revolver, drugs in restive Recodo PDF Print E-mail

Two persons were arrested for possession of illegal drugs and firearms as police intensify security measures in the tense barangay of Recodo last Sunday night and yesterday morning.

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca arrested around 7p.m. Rammel Rafol y Rio for violation of Republic Act 8294 as amended by Republic Act 10591.

Confiscated from his possession were a .38 cal. revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition,

Rafol was nabbed near the compound of Dacon Company where violence erupted Saturday due to land dispute.

More than two hours later the same police group arrested Ayatulla Amilasan y Ijin, 33, married, for possession of two sachets of suspected shabu.

The two arrested suspects were detained at the city police office while the seized suspected shabu packs and the gun were turned over to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Huesca and his men have readied appropriate charges against the two suspects.

A 22-year-old man was and seven others were wounded when protesting residents and Dacon security personnel clashed Saturday morning.

The violence erupted after angry residents attacked the Dacon compound where they saw its workers resuming the construction of a perimeter fence which would block the road leading to a community mosque.

The residents said the land being occupied by Dacon belong to them by virtue of a Presidential Proclamation issued by then President Manuel L. Quezon in 1936.

Dacon, on the other hand, asserts ownership of the land through land title. – Dan Toribio Jr.
