The operation officer of the Sangali Fishing Port Complex was arrested in an entrapment operation last Wednesday afternoon.

Sangali Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh identified the arrested officer as Noel Zamorano y Ebol, 59, married of Canelar.

A police report disclosed that Oliver Burlas, one of the stall owners in the fishing port, had filed a complaint with the Sangali Police Station against Zamorano for alleged extortion.

In his complaint to the police, Burlas said Zamorano had allegedly demanded from him P5,000 for the rental of his stall and had allegedly threatened to destroy his stall if he would refuse to give the amount.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Burlas met Zamorano inside the complex where he handed the marked money while a police back up team was already in the area.

When Zamorano received the money, policemen cornered and arrested him.

Zamorano was brought to the Sangali Police Station where he was detained pending the filing of charges against in court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
