Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamcelco) President Omar Sahi has clarified a news report published in this newspaper on May 9 in which he was erroneously quoted to have said that Efren Wee, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) observer in the cooperative, may face perjury charge relative to the procurement of modular gensets.

Sahi early this week personally called the attention of the reporter who wrote the article to make correction and the latter admitted his mistake in the transcription of the recorded interview with the Zamcelco president.

Sahi explained that what he said in the recorded interview was that Lin Man Power Technology, Inc., and not Efren Wee, may face perjury charge in connection with the controversial procurement of modular generator sets, because the firm’s top executive is related to a Zamcelco official by consanguinity which is a violation of the affidavit of Omnibus Certfication.

The said affidavit stipulates that at least the bidder has “no relation to any of the officer or director nor to the chairman, president, or any member of the Board of Director of Zamceclo or member of the BAC”.

Part of the recorded interview with Sahi said, “pamilya ‘se sila, despues pone le cay hende pamilya,” referring to the Lin Man Power Technology Inc. president and CEO Jovita K. Yeo who is related to Efren Wee by consanguinity. — Monch L. Follosco
