The Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamcelco) has announced the conduct of special elections in Districts VIII and X that will be held simultaneously on June 8, 2014.

Zamcelco General Manager Engr. George Ledesma said the coop’s Board of Directors headed by President Omar Sahi met in a regular board meeting on Thursday to discuss the election.

Ledesma said the Board unanimously approved Resolution No. 80, calling for the conduct of special district elections in the mentioned districts.

To recall, Zamcelco scheduled a regular election for the two districts, together with Districts III and V on May 11, 2014. The same was considered a failure as there was no qualified candidate in District VIII and no candidate filed a Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in District X.

Ledesma said any interested bonafide coop members who are interested to run for a seat in the board must secure the official form of the Certificate of Candidacy at the Institutional Services Department (ISD), Zamcelco office during office hours from Monday to Friday (8:00AM-5:00PM) and Saturday (8:00AM-12:00 noon),” Ledesma said.

The last day for the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) is on May 29, 2014 (Thursday) or ten days before the scheduled district election through the Institutional Services Department (ISD) headed by Engr. Edgardo Ancheta.

The management also advises member-consumers who do not have their Coop ID cards to also inquire the ISD office. — MLF
