Police have arrested two suspects in the fatal shooting of a teacher of Claret College of Isabela in Isabela City on Thursday morning.

Arrested were Abdulbasal Salim of Mampamg, Zamboanga City and Rujim Ladjatuwa of Lantawan, Basilan.

Salim and Ladjatuwa were arrested hours after Jayveen Ilagan y Monte was shot dead while he was washing his red Suzuki Raider motorcycle around 7 a.m. outside their house at Mega Subdivision, Jessica Hills, Barangay Sunrise.The gunman appeared from behind and shot him.

The killer grabbed the Raider motorcycle and fled towards unknown direction, according to the police.

Ilagan suffered a gunshot wound on the head and died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Isabela City.

Investigators recovered 1 empty shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

The two suspects claimed they are “assets” of the Military Intelligence Group-9.

Like Zamboanga City, the cities of Isabela and Lamitan, both in Basilan province have been experiencing gun violence.

In Lamitan City, a student was shot dead and his brother was wounded by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Sengal last Monday.

Killed was Cedric Paculdo. His brother John Carlo sustained injuries in the body.

The two brothers were aboard a Honda Wave motorcycle when two men aboard a Honda XRM motorcycle chased and its backrider opened fire on them.

The latest gun violence in Zamboanga City took place at the busy junction of Canelar road and Moret last Friday morning.

Killed was Andan Gadjali, a native of Barangay Caliran, Mabuhay municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay. He was taking his meal inside MS Store and Fastfood when a gunman armed with a Super .38 pistol walked in and pumped a bullet into his head at close range.was.

Gadjali sustained a bullet wound in the bodyand was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Few minutes after the shooting, policemen found the getaway car of the gunman bearing plate number TJA 259 fronting Rams Beer Garden along Gov. Camins Avenue

Police noticed that the right front tire of the car was flat which could be the reason why it was abandoned along the road.

Recovered aboard the car were documents of the vehicle showing the name Farsad Sabban as its owner.

Also recovered from the car were several call cards of Farzad Sabban with his position as Sales Consultant of the Hyundai Zamboanga City and a holster of an unknown pistol.

Police gathered that Sabban is a resident of Guiwan but when they swooped down on his  residence, he was nowhere to be found.

The killing of Gadjali came 24 hours after a native of Tawi-Tawi was shot dead in San Roque, two female teenagers were wounded in gun attack in Culianan and a man was shot and wounded in Baliwasan.

Sabturani Jailani, 63, was shot dead by two men riding tandem on a Honda XRM motorcycle in San Roque around 4 p.m.

Wounded in the Culianan gun attack were Maryjoy Tejano y Labrado, 17, and Jessabel, 14.

Maryjoy sustained a bullet wound in the right arm, while Jessabel was hit in the back of the body. Both were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The victims’ older sister, Baby Grace Tejano Usman, 23, married and pregnant with one son, told DZT that they were sleeping with her husband Bensuud inside the house of their sister when they heard successive gunfire coming from the outside.

After seven bursts of gunfire, Baby Grace found out her two sisters were hit by bullets. She screamed for help.

Randee Bayabos Banguih was in serious condition after he was shot by his younger brother at Nanca Drive, Baliwasan Chico yesterday afternoon.

Randee sustained three gunshot wounds and was rushed to Brent Hospital where he was described as in serious condition.
