Abu bomber nabbed in Calarian dawn raid PDF Print E-mail

Police and military operatives arrested an alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group who is an expert in making Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a raid at Block 5, Southcom Village, Calarian last Saturday morning.

Arrested was Nujir Ahidji aka “Abu Jomar”, single, and a native of Jolo, Sulu.

Ahidji was nabbed at the house of Mahmor Albania where he was renting a room.

The arrest was carried out by men of the Intelligence Section of the Zamboanga City Police Office, Bomb Squad, SIU CIDMB, Task Force Zamboanga, Regional Intelligence Unit, MIG9 and SWAT who were armed with search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Gregorio Dela Peña III.

The court issued the search warrant intended for certain Ustadz Hassan and a certain “Jomar”.

The raiders recovered from Ahidji’s rented room one Samsung cellular phone, a brown wallet with picture, two cellphone chargers, pieces of cut wiring, an improvised blasting cap, two empty boxes of cellular phone, a SIM card and strips of electric tape.

Ahidji was brought to the Zamboanga City Police Office after the orderly search which was carried out in the presence of the Barangay Chairman and Purok leader of Calarian.

The suspect is presently under the custody of Intel Section of Zamboanga City Police Office pending the filing of appropriate charges against him in court.

Moreover, the Western Mindanao Command and the PNP are jointly intensifying law enforcement operations intended to eliminate criminal activities through expeditious arrest of remaining leaders and members of the Abu Sayyaf Group and other lawless elements. – Dan Toribio Jr.
