Mayor Beng Climaco and Congressman Celso Lobregat of District 1 yesterday led the inauguration of the newly constructed three-storey 27-classroom building amounting to P28.8 million at Ayala Central School.

Implemented during Lobregat’s administration, the school building was undertaken by MSDLR Construction in the amount of P28,791,886.10, bringing to 97 the total number of classrooms for the 4,800 students and 101 teachers of Ayala NHS headed by the principal, Edzel Francisco.

Climaco accepted the school building from Lobregat, emphasizing that education is one of the top priorities of her administration and that efforts are being made to give the children better learning opportunities.

With the new building, Ayala NHS now has about 47 students in each room (47:1 ratio), which is still higher than the standard of 35:1 ration. “But it would have been much higher and even worst had we not constructed this building,” Lobregat said.

For his part, Department of Education OIC Regional Director Malcom S. Garma said the new school building is a precious gift from a working local government unit and a working congressman.

He said the inauguration of the school building is very timely as DepEd is currently conducting the Brigada Eskwela to prepare the schools for the opening of classes next month.

“We thank Mayor Beng and Congressman Lobregat for making education on top of their priorities. We thank them for taking time and effort in putting their vision for education a reality,” Garma said.

Also present during the inauguration rites were Councilors Gerky Valesco and Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar together with Schools Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad, the barangay officials of Ayala and the faculty of Ayala NHS.

Last Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Climaco also unveiled the newly constructed Barangay Hall of Camino Nuevo amounting to P4.2 million.
