Wanted kidnapper hurt in gunfight, is arrested PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Siocon Municipal Police Station and army soldiers arrested a man wanted for kidnapping.after a brief exchange of gunfire in Barangay Tabayo, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte last Thursday morning.

Nabbed was Najer Ajijol, who had a pending warrant of arrest for kidnapping (three counts) with Case Nos. 27263, 27264 and 27265. He sustained a bullet wound in the body.

The warrant was issued by Judge Peter V. Eisma of the at Regional Trial Court Branch 15. Ajijol was first spotted in Barangay Matiag, Siocon, by some residents who reported it to the police.

After receiving the report, Siocon policemen led by Chief Insp. Kiram Jimlani and soldiers from the Army’s 13th Special Forces put upcheckpoints on all exits in Siocon, Zamboanga Del Norte which resulted in the interception of Ajijol at Sitio Canatuan, Barangay Tabayo, while he driving a black Honda XRM motorcycle with no plate.

Police said Ajijol was stopped at the checkpoint and was asked for his identification cards. He immediately drew a handgun and opened fire on the government forces triggering a brief of exchange of fire. Ajijol managed to jump into a ravine and ran away.

Hot pursuit operations continued until the lawmen cornered Ajijol at Sitio Mambong, Barangay Candiz, Siocon, Zamboanga Del Norte after another brief of exchange of gunfire.

Recovered from his possession was a .45 caliber pistol and a hand grenade.

Ajijol was taken to the hospital in Zamboanga Sibugay for treatment of a bullet wound in the body he suffered sustained in the skirmish. – Dan Toribio Jr.
